Steering wheel 333/D1381 JCB 3CX/4CX, genuine

For the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders: steering wheel 333/D1381, a genuine JCB part.

The wheel is chosen by part number for the column spline size and machine model. When it is replaced, parts such as the spinner knob and horn button are moved to the new wheel. The column shaft splines are checked as well. If the rim is cracked or has a sharp edge, the wheel is replaced without delay, as a cracked rim can break during work. Check the steering wheel for axial and radial play at every service. Keep the wheel covering away from oil and solvents. When the rim covering wears, the hand can slip and steering precision drops, which adds to fatigue.

Fitting

Before the change, set the wheels straight and disconnect the battery negative (if there is a horn button). Remove the centre cap, undo the nut and pull the wheel off the shaft. Fit the new wheel with its spokes level while the road wheels are straight and tighten the nut to the specified torque. After assembly, turn the wheel both ways to check there is no play. After fitting, the part is checked again after a few hours of work.
