Inner door lock with cable, right 123/07382 JCB 3CX/4CX, aftermarket

For the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders: inner door lock with cable, right 123/07382, an aftermarket part. This is the inner door lock mechanism with cable (right).

The lock is chosen by part number for its position (left or right door, bonnet, box) and machine version; left and right locks are mirror images and not interchangeable. When it is changed, the striker and hinges are checked too, as a sagging door strains a new lock as well. The mechanism is cleaned regularly and lubricated with a suitable lubricant. Dust gets into the lock in summer and water in winter, so regular cleaning and lubrication extend its life. A sticking lock is not forced but cleaned and lubricated first.

Fitting

Before changing the lock, fix the door open and remove the inner trim. Mark and disconnect the handle cables and rods and remove the lock bolts. Fit the new lock in the same position, reconnect the linkages and, before closing the door, check the lock works from the handles. Finally check that the door closes easily and latches fully, adjusting the striker if needed. When fitting the lock, adjust the cable slack, as a taut cable can release the lock by itself.
