This cover or guard protects a mechanism inside or outside the cab (gear shift, door lock, wiper motor, control lever or a side panel of the machine) from outside damage and gives a tidy finish. Fitting

Before fitting the cover, clean the mechanism beneath it and lubricate it if needed. Seat the new cover on its clips or screws without force and tighten the screws without overdoing it. After fitting, check that the mechanism works freely under the cover and that the cover does not rattle. Seat the cover so its edges line up with the surrounding panels. A rattling cover means broken clips and is put right without delay. If clips break during fitting, new ones are used.
