Bonnet corner, left horizontal 332/P5297 is an aftermarket part for the JCB 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders. This is the left horizontal bonnet corner piece.

The bonnet corner piece protects the edges and corners of the bonnet against knocks and gives the bonnet its finished shape. On backhoe loaders the bonnet corners are the points most exposed to hits from the bucket or load, and the corner piece takes the blow so the bonnet itself is not dented. A broken or missing corner piece lets the exposed bonnet edge rust and deform, and its sharp edges can cause injury. It also spoils the machine's appearance and makes it easier for water to get under the bonnet. The corner piece is supplied to match the bonnet colour.

Fitting

Remove the old corner piece's screws or rivets, clean the bonnet edge and treat any rusty areas. Fit the new piece in the same place and secure it with screws or rivets, as overtightening can crack the plastic. After fitting, check that the bonnet opens and closes freely and that the piece does not rub on anything. There must be no gap between the piece and the bonnet when fitted.
