Seals differ in profile and length according to position (door, rear window, quarter light; top, bottom, side, left, right) and cab type and are chosen by part number. When fitting, the seal and frame are cleaned and soapy water or a special fitting fluid is used to help the rubber seat; oil or grease is not used, as it attacks the rubber. The seal is laid in without stretching and without being squeezed at the corners. When the seal is replaced, the glass edge is checked for chips and cracks too. Water in the cab usually comes from a failed seal rather than the glass itself, so when the floor mat is wet or rust marks appear around the glass, the seals are checked first. Seals wiped regularly with a rubber care product stay soft for longer.
