Laminated windscreen 827/80139 JCB, aftermarket

Laminated windscreen 827/80139 is an aftermarket part for the JCB machines. The glass has a silk-screen edge print.

Cab glass gives the operator all-round visibility and protects the cab from dust, rain, wind and noise. On machines the windscreen is usually laminated: the film between two layers of glass holds the fragments together if it breaks. Door, side and rear windows are usually toughened (tempered) glass, which stands up better to impact and breaks into small, blunt pieces. A cracked or broken pane reduces visibility, lets water and dust into the cab and puts the operator's safety at risk. When the glass is replaced, the frame is checked for rust and distortion, as a bent frame stresses the new pane and can crack it.

Fitting

Glass is carried only with suitable equipment and protective gloves, taking care not to knock the edges, as toughened glass can shatter completely from a blow on the edge. After fitting, the seal is checked with water, and on door glass the door is tried to make sure it opens and closes freely.
