On construction and agricultural machines there is often a separate master cylinder for each side or group of wheels; when the two pedals are latched together, both cylinders work at once and the machine brakes evenly. An internal leak in one cylinder makes the machine pull to one side with the pedals latched. When looking for a fault, the fluid level, air in the lines and pedal free play are checked first, then whether the cylinders hold pressure. After a cylinder is replaced, the brake system must always be bled. The pedal latch and the pedal return springs are checked too, as a sticking pedal will stop a new cylinder from returning fully as well.
